This lesson guides students through analysing the opening of The Hunger Games film, looking specifically at the use of sound, camera angles, contrast and the portrayal of Katniss. I’ve also included some notes I made with my class about the opening film, with suggested talking points. Slides include screenshots and sound clips from the film. I couldn’t share the whole opening of the film due to copyright issues, so you’ll need to get the DVD, download it using your own means, or rent it off Youtube.

This pack includes a PowerPoint music genres quiz with eight rounds of different genres for pupils to guess. The first 20 second clips of songs are included within the presentation. Also included are pupil answer sheets and a teacher’s answer sheet. The presentation is colourful, exciting and engaging. I chose a mixture of songs that I thought pupils would know and a couple of more challenging entries. I made this genre quiz to suit diverse classrooms with different ‘cliques’ of students and an array of musical tastes… hopefully something to appease everyone! Happy quizzing!
